Romans 14:17 – Righteousness and peace and joy

For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in holy spirit.

Where God reigns, there one does not get lost in short-sighted judgments about the behavior of the other. On the contrary, that is where the highest values ​​take shape. This is how it will be when the kingship of God receives universal recognition. To begin with in the coming eon, the Millennium. Then God’s kingship will be worldwide and manifest, and all nations will reap its beneficial fruits under Jesus Christ’s rule.

Then justice will reign everywhere. There will no longer be legal inequality or arbitrariness. Everyone will receive what is due to him justly. There will also be no wars or conflicts. War material will be reforged for peaceful purposes. True contentment will be experienced and hence intense joy. Shalom will rule and it will turn out to be so much more than the lack of war. What now seems a utopia will become a reality under the rule of Israel’s Messiah.

This kingship of God in public form is something of the future, but on a small scale and in secret it is already being experienced now. Wherever God’s word ‘holds sway’ justice is practiced, peace is savored and joy is experienced. That is God’s auspicious kingship in miniature!
