Whenever Christ, our Life, should be manifested, then you also shall be manifested together with Him in glory.

Our life is now hidden with the Christ in God. The world does not see Christ, and it also does not see what we are in Him. Nor, for that matter, do we ourselves. But that will not remain so. There comes a day on which God will make visible what is still hidden now. The word “appear” is in a passive form both times. Christ appears, and we also appear with Him.

Elsewhere in Scripture as well we read that Christ, at “the manifestation of His parousia” (2 Thess. 2:8), will be accompanied by His own who are still hidden now. Thus Zechariah prophesied that the Lord will come “and all the holy ones with Him” (14:5). Who they are remains hidden there, but Paul makes known that this concerns the ecclesia, the body of Christ. Together they form an unbreakable unity, and therefore Christ’s appearing coincides with ours.

Prior to His appearing with us, He will first come for us. We will be meeting Him in the air (1 Thess. 4:17), in order at a later time also to appear together with Him in glory. On that day Christ will be glorified in His saints and be regarded with wonder in all who believe (2 Thess. 1:10). Christ’s glory will also become visible in them.
