Leviticus 23:10,11 – 17th of Nisan

He will wave the sheaf before YAHWEH for acceptance on your behalf. From the morrow of the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
If we forget the ecclesiastical calendar for a moment and focus on the calendar of “the feasts of YAHWEH” (as described in Leviticus 23), Saturday the 11th of April was Nisan the 17th. Day number three of the seven-day festival of Passover. What makes this date so special is that it is the date that Christ was resurrected. After all, he died on the 14th of Nisan (Passover) and after three nights in the grave (Mat.12: 40), he rose on the third day.
This seventeenth of Nisan coincided in the year of Christ’s resurrection with “the morrow (day after) of the Sabbath” when the priest waved the first sheaf of the barley harvest. It was not just any Sunday, it was “the day after the Sabbath” that God had designated as the day of the sheaf of the firstfruit. No date had been set for that, but a weekday. How special! God had already determined fifteen hundred years before when the Christ would die (Passover) and would rise as a Firstfruits!
