Isaiah 66:24 – Hell or valley of Hinnom

The last verse of Isaiah speaks of the coming aeon in which the Messiah will rule from Jerusalem. A righteous Kingdom. But also with strict sanctions. The perished corpses of rebels against YHWEH will not be buried, but will remain in the valley of Hinnom near Jerusalem. Eaten by worms and fire. The many pilgrims who will travel to Jerusalem worldwide will be able to see this as they pass.
The Greek word for the ‘valley of Hinnom’ is Gehenna. It is pure deception that Bible translations have made it “hell” (Mar.9: 45). Isaiah is not talking about a place where immortal souls are tortured. Isaiah speaks of wasting corpses in an identifiable place on the map of Jerusalem. Elsewhere called “the valley of the corpsses” (Jer. 31:40). A lurid spectacle, but it has nothing to do with hell.
The idea of hell is unknown in Scripture. Certainly, the GOD of the Bible judges. He sentences and executes judgments. But always corrective. Correcting and making right.
