Acts 20:35 – happier
12-05-2020 - Posted by Andre Piet…remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, Happy is it to give rather than to get.
It is strange, but in none of the gospel descriptions do we find the above statement of Jesus. Why would it? It could well be that Paul himself heard these words from the glorified Lord. After all, he appeared to him not only on the road to Damascus, but also afterwards (Acts 26:16). And was also taught by him (Gal.1: 12).
Be that as it may, Paul speaks of happiness here in its magnified form. Happier. You can speak of happiness when you can receive precious things. But even happier is the one who gives precious things. Because he also makes others happy with what he can own.
Materially reasoned, my property is decreased when I give it away. And it gets less when I share it with others. But the opposite is true in the spiritual sphere. When I share happiness, love, joy, it multiplies! I don’t lose it myself by giving it to others. On the contrary! To the good message also applies: receiving makes you happy. But passing it on causes one to become even happier! Others and myself too!
