The Days of Genesis One

Yesterday I gave a presentation in Katwijk about the days in Genesis one. Two points were central:
- The six days in which God made the heavens and the earth were days of restoration. The world that God created “in the beginning” had, for an unspecified reason, completely perished through water. “Tohu va-bohu” (formless and void) is the ominous Hebrew expression for this. God then made (read: restored) this world in six days.
- Genesis One not only tells the origin story of the world and its inhabitants, but above all it is also the table of contents of the entire Bible! The six days are a depiction of the work that God carries out with regard to humanity, from the very beginning until finally, in this world, the seventh day—the world sabbath—will dawn. Each day points chronologically to the Plan that God executes in stages. When studying the first chapter of the Bible, a magnificent panorama unfolds before our eyes. The origin of our world turns out to be at the same time a blueprint of salvation history. Only God could devise something like this.In due time, I will publish an article on this subject on my site.
Additional note (28-09-2020):
I would like to point to later contributions in which I give account of further insights regarding the six days in Genesis 1. Such as:
