Romans 3:25 – Through faith in his blood

Christ Jesus, in whom the redemption of all is assured, has been predetermined by GOD as “propitiatory shelter” (Gr. Hilasterion). That word refers to the golden lid on the ark of the covenant. It was considered the most sacred attribute: once (a year) the high priest sprinkled the blood of a slaughtered goat on this lid. In this ritual, the high priest provided ‘shelter’ for all the people.

This golden lid sprinkled with blood is a type of Christ Jesus. After all, he is currently in the heavenly sanctuary. He is sprinkled with blood, that is to say, he is the lamb that was slaughtered. The lid of gold is an image of incorruption; of him who has risen! When GOD had a golden lid made for the Ark of the Covenant in the Most Holy Place, He had Christ Jesus in mind. GOD then already demonstrated that He had faith in Christ’s blood. “By faith in his blood” does not refer to our faith but to GOD’S faith, as mentioned in 3: 3. GOD believes in “the lamb that has been slaughtered”. In him all mankind finds shelter!
