1 Corinthians 15:52 – the last trump
07-04-2020 - Posted by Andre PietLo! a secret to you am I telling! We all, indeed, shall not be put to repose, yet we all shall be changed, in an instant, in the twinkle of an eye, at the last trump. For He will be trumpeting, and the dead will be roused incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Paul is writing here about the exceptional privilege that will come to the generation being alive in the parousia of Christ. Also in 1 Thessalonians 4 Paul writes about this event that will take place in two stages. First the trumpet will sound at which “the dead in Christ” will rise (1Thes.4: 16). And right after that a trumpet will sound, and then the living will be changed “an instant”. They are a generation that will never die. So they are not resurrected in incorruptibility, but are changed into incorruptibility.
That means that at this event, a trumpet will sound at two moments. First at the raising of the dead and “the last trumpet” when the believers who are still alive are changed in an instant. Then these two groups, the resurrected dead and the changed living, will be snatched at the same time and together to meet the Lord in the air (1Thes.4: 17). What an expectation!
