1 Corinthians 15:52 – In an instant07-04-2020 - Posted by Andre Piet
Lo! a secret to you am I telling! We all, indeed, shall not be put to repose, yet we all shall be changed, in an instant, in the twinkle of an eye, at the last trump. For He will be trumpeting, and the dead will be roused incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
What Paul is telling in this secret is that the believers who live during the last generation, i.e. in the time of the parousia of Christ, will not die but will be changed. Like the deceased believers, they will receive an incorruptible body. However, not by resurrection, but by change “in an indivisible moment”. In Greek this is the word ‘atomos’, from which our word “atom” is derived. This change is not an operation or a process, but it takes place so quickly that not even an atomic clock can record its time. In the “twinkle of an eye”, that is the time of the blink of an eye.
It is an extraordinary privilege to belong to the generation that will not taste death. Who will not first be ‘stripped’ and has to discard this body through death but will be ‘dressed’ in incorruptibility while alive (2 Cor. 5: 4). If you would only belong to that generation…!
