Philippians 4:7 – as in a fortress
26-03-2020 - Posted by Andre PietAnd the peace of God, that is superior to every frame of mind, shall be garrisoning your hearts and your apprehensions in Christ Jesus.
How easily cares can torment life. Due to illness or circumstances at home, in the family or at work. Or in the major world events. You name it. It is so human to be troubled or depressed by it.
In the above verse Paul does not write about peace with God (as in Rom.5: 1) but about the peace of God. That is the peace that God himself has. Where we may panic and think things are getting out of hand, there is One who has everything under perfect control. Everything proceeds “according to the counsel of his will” (Eph.1: 11) and nothing (!) happens coincidentally. Everything has a purpose. Of course, this truth is beyond any human understanding. The ocean just doesn’t fit in a thimble.
However, as soon as I begin to thank GOD in that realization, his peace will take hold of me. The peace of GOD will be like a fortress, within which all my considerations and emotions have a safe shelter. As a permanent castle within which nothing can happen to me!
