1 Corinthians 7:34,35 – Without distraction

Now this I am saying for your own expedience, not that I should be casting a noose over you, but for that which is respectable and assiduous – to be undistractedly for the Lord.
What was said about the believing single man, more or less applies to the unmarried woman or virgin. She can devote herself entirely to the Lord in body and mind. Without being distracted by caring for a man or for children.
Paul emphasizes again (:28) that he does not give these instructions to burden his readers. On the contrary, he writes it precisely because he wishes them a carefree existence. Anyone who reads Paul without prejudice will have to admit that what he writes is perfectly reasonable. They are usually feelings that prevent us from admitting that. Paul knew what he was talking about. He knew from experience the enormous advantage of being undivided and unhindered for the service to the Lord.
