Ephesians 2:15 –  The law of precepts

…nullifying the law of precepts in decrees, that He should be creating the two in Himself into one new humanity…

“the law of precepts” which isolated the Jew from the heathen, has been nullified. Do you read that correctly? In one “new humanity” this law does not play any role. Regardless of whether it is Sabbath, special days, food regulations, circumcision or any precept (Col. 2: 16). Within the body of Christ (!) these are not items at all.

The most characteristic of the new humanity in which “the two” (Jew and heathen) have become one, is that the central wall has been broken away. Everything in which the Jew distinguished himself from the nations has disappeared in the “new humanity”. There, the law (which was directive for Israel) is not read. They do not criticize each other on the Sabbath either. The circumcision ritual does not play a role here. Neither something that would have taken the place of these things (baptism, Sunday, etc.).

The new formation that GOD has created is not a religious community. Religions are distinguished by special days, heights and rituals. But that is not the case in the “new humanity”. There, law does not rule, but grace. Joy for free!
