Titus 3:7 Enjoyers of the allotment

“Being justified,” i.e., being declared righteous by God, is not a final destination. It is the atmosphere in which God places believers “in that One’s grace”. Also the concept of “enjoyers of the allotment” shows that it is not a merit. In the current translations, the Greek word (> kleronomos) is rendered with ‘heirs’ and that translation word often also covers that meaning. Whoever receives an inheritance receives something without merit.
However, in the Greek word mentioned there is the word ‘lot’ (> draw) and that is not without meaning. For example, the people of Israel received the land of Canaan as an inheritance, but it was allocated to them by lot (Acts 13:19; Josh.18:10). The property had fallen to them from God. The fundamental idea behind drawing lots is that man has no part in the choice. God makes it happen. So not only that we are justified is grace, this also applies to the fact that we would become “enjoyers of the allotment”.
Remarkable, by the way, that Paul does not mention here what our “allotment” (inheritance) is. What he merely indicates is that we are “enjoyers” “in expectation of eonian life.” Apparently our “allotment” has to do with the life of the eons to come…
