Romans 8:27 – Again: the pleading of the spirit
15-06-2021 - Posted by HansNow, He Who is searching the hearts is aware what is the disposition of the spirit, for in accord with God is it pleading for the saints.
Where we are weak and know not what to pray and only groan inarticulately, there is God’s spirit that does speak. And what this one says speaks for us. It is God’s word that gives strength in our weakness. And where we do not know what to pray for, there is God’s word that perfectly meets the needs of saints. By the way, it does not say that the spirit prays on our behalf, but pleads. This speaking does not serve to convince God but to strengthen us in our weakness.
There is One who knows us. Not just from the outside but even more from the inside. For He is GOD and therefore His spirit knows how to plead perfectly for saints. For the spirit pleads in agreement with God “who is searching the hearts.” So He knows our needs and interests and He knows exactly what word we need.
Earlier Paul wrote (:6) about “the disposition of the spirit”. It is “life and peace”. That’s what the pleading of God’s spirit works in us!
