Romans 5:3,4 – Boasting also in afflictions
12-01-2021 - Posted by Andre Piet… and we may be glorying in expectation of the glory of God. Yet not only so, but we may be glorying also in afflictions, having perceived that affliction is producing endurance, yet endurance testedness, yet testedness expectation.
We have been declared righteous, have peace to GOD and access to Him in an atmosphere of grace in which we stand. And we boast because we have hope in the glory of GOD. This radiant view makes us speak enthusiastically about it. That’s what boasting is.
Boasting in this hope is a constant and does not end in afflictions. That is the power of the “expectation of the glory of GOD”. While we ourselves are under pressure in afflictions, we can endure it through expectation. The Greek word for “endure” (hupomeno) is made up of the elements ‘under’ and ‘abide’. Someone who endures ‘abides under it’. He or she remains standing.
This enduring under pressure proves the genuineness of our boasting in hope. Boasting in expectation under good conditions is nice, but the test only takes place under pressure. Affliction is the trial by fire. If boasting in expectation also withstands tribulations, expectation is confirmed!
