Romans 1:4 – By the resurrection of the dead
16-07-2020 - Posted by Andre Piet… Who is designated Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
We saw that because of his mother Mary, Jesus Christ is a descendant of David. And because she became pregnant as a virgin, he is also “Son of GOD”. And thereby he is also “Son of GOD in power”, namely “by the resurrection of the dead“. But it is possible that we read this communication sloppy. For example, by taking it as the NIV translation reads: “by his resurrection from the dead”. But it is not like that in the original text.
“Jesus Christ our Lord” became “Son of God in power…. by resurrection of the dead “. So it is not just about his resurrection, but about “resurrection of the dead”, that is plural. I.e. Jesus Christ raised the dead. And that makes him Son of God in power!
In the history of Lazarus, we read that Jesus says, “This sickness is not unto death, but… that it may glorify the Son of God” (John 11: 4). And what does Jesus do? He awakens dead Lazarus, and raises him up! Thus the Son proved to be “the resurrection and the Life” (John 11:25)!
