1 Timothy 6:16 – Honor and might eonian!

… who alone has immortality making His home in light inaccessible, Whom not one of mankind perceived nor can be perceiving, to Whom be honor and might eonian! Amen!

The subject of these last two verses was “our Lord Jesus Christ” (6:14). He is the only ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords and also the One who (to this day) alone has immortality and Who inhabits an inaccessible light that no one has perceived or can perceive. It’s about Him. Paul concludes this list of glories with the praise that to Him belongs “honor and might eonian.”

It is God himself who crowns our Lord Jesus Christ with glory and honor (Heb.2:9). He, the unique Mediator between God and mankind (1Tim.2:5). It is through Him that GOD comes to humanity and humanity through Him to God.

The Lord Jesus Christ was never or is never about himself. It is precisely His glory that He forsakes Himself and always has the honor of His God and Father in mind. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord…to the glory of God the Father!
