1 Corinthians 15:51 – Not all shall be put to repose
26-03-2020 - Posted by Andre PietLo! a secret to you am I telling! We all, indeed, shall not be put to repose, yet we all shall be changed, in an instant, in the twinkle of an eye, at the last trump
So far, Paul has only spoken of resurrection. In other words, about the departed and dead who will be resurrected on occasion. But there is one category of people who will not be put to repose. What Paul is going to say about this was always hidden before, but he now makes it known. It concerns the living believers at the time when the Lord returns and the trumpet will sound.
Paul speaks in the we form. “We” are the living at “the last trumpet”. During the Acts time, Paul also took into account that this event would take place in his generation. For although the light for Israel’s restoration was no longer “green” (as before Paul’s calling), it was still “orange”.
We know what happened to Israel and we are now less than two thousand years further. And with that we are also approaching a milestone: the coming of the Lord “on the third day”! Not this time maybe or possibly, but certainly! This gives Paul’s secret again, and even more than ever, a very topical meaning. “All shall not be put to repose …”.
