Inversion
The biblical presentation set forth in PART I turns the Copernican worldview inside out. What according to this model of observation and measurement is the outside (beyond the stars), is in the biblical presentation precisely the inside. In mathematics this phenomenon is called inversion (= reversal). In inversion, every point outside the sphere is given a corresponding place inside the sphere and vice versa. Graphically represented:

The consequence of an inverted world is that space becomes ever greater (“expands”) toward the center, or in other words that things become ever smaller. Atoms, astronauts, spaceships, but also measuring instruments, everything shrinks toward the midpoint.
Another consequence of inversion is that light does not travel in a straight line but along a curved path. In the image below we see the horizontal, straight line (e.g. a ray of light) outside the sphere follow a curved path inside the inverted sphere.

When space curves in the way such an inverted world presupposes, this gives an optical effect comparable to that of a fisheye lens.

That same lens effect causes the stars that are grouped around the center point of the world, as seen from the earth, to be spread across the whole “celestial sphere.”
How, then, can we know whether we live on a convex earth or in a concave earth if the phenomena present themselves to us identically in both cases? If both models are empirically equal, is there then a way to prove that we live on a convex or in a concave earth? This question was put to Prof. H.S.M. Coxeter, professor of mathematics at the University of Toronto and expert in the field of geometric inversion. His answer was:
I could think of none. A rocket flight, an eclipse, the Foucault Pendulum, a Coriolis effect—of every observation we make on the outside of the earth, we have an exact duplicate version on the inside of the earth. There is no way to tell which is the truth.”

Ockham’s Razor
But if no one can tell us whether we live on the outside or the inside of the earth, why then does science proceed from a globe? The reason is simple: the earth presents itself to us (as seen from space) as a sphere. Proceeding from a convex earth corresponds with observation and measurement and is so much simpler for calculations. Light following a curved line is considerably more complex than light traveling in a straight path. In science this is called Ockham’s razor: a simple explanation is preferred over a complex one.
Only The Creator Can Give A Decisive Answer
Science looks at and measures “what is before the eyes.” That is its strength but at the same time its limitation. Only the Creator can tell us how reality is, i.e. how He sees the world. And according to His own statement, He chose to stretch out heaven, His tent, in the midst of the world. That is how God sees the world… and He would know!

Prof. R. Sexl defends the heaven-centered model – Roman Ulrich Sexl [1939-1986] was professor of cosmology and General Relativity at the University of Vienna; in this lecture [1983] he defends (without personally believing in it, incidentally) the heaven-centered model as a serious cosmological alternative and points, among other things, to the mathematical impossibility of refuting this model. This is a Dutch Google translation of an originally German article.
