year transition

‘Big Brother’
The year 2008 showed developments in world affairs that could well receive a dramatic continuation in the coming year. Did governments receive, through the attacks of 9-11, in one stroke a free hand to take away the privacy of citizens, the credit crisis seven years later gave authorities an excuse to make major banks state property. In combination with information technology, the way seems to be paved toward a new monetary system with one currency, without cash. How long will it take before the ‘picture’ of Rev.13:16 becomes reality (buying and selling possible only on condition of a mark on hand or forehead)? Should we think in terms of years or of decades?
the term is expiring…
One thing is certain: the second ‘millennium day’ since Christ’s resurrection (as well as the sixth ‘millennium day’ since Adam) is drawing to a close (>2 Peter 3:8 cf. Hos.6:1-3). A new Day is dawning. That explains why in the Middle East we see the entire pattern of nations from the days of the prophets coming back to life again. We are experiencing the times of “the restoration of all which God speaks through the mouth of His holy prophets” (Acts 3:21). The pieces are being placed on the chessboard. After having been ‘off the map’ for thousands of years, names such as Lebanon, Persia, Syria, and Egypt can no longer be imagined away from the front pages of the newspapers. Grouped around a small Jewish state with Jerusalem as its capital, together with her age-old archrival in the Gaza Strip: the Philistines (=Palestinians).
Will 2009 see a confrontation between Israel and Persia (Iran)? How will the US under the leadership of the as ‘messiah’ greeted Obama position itself in the Middle East conflict? Do we have to fear a total collapse of the American economy, as the new American vice-president Joe Biden supposes? “God only knows,” sang the Beach Boys.
good message
As administrator of goedbericht.nl I consider it an enormous privilege, precisely in this time, to let the light of “the Scripture” shine through the medium of the internet. In this way, with ease, hundreds of unique visitors are informed daily by means of what “is written.” This wonderful work (with everything that comes with it) occupies more and more of my time and it looks as though this trend will continue in 2009. In addition to the regular speaking engagements, four study days are also planned. The next study day, Sunday February 22 (“new light on Genesis 1”), promises to be groundbreaking… The weekend preceding Passover (April 3-5), a goedbericht weekend is scheduled at the beautifully situated recreation center ‘het Goede Huis’ in Maarn. You will soon hear more about the mentioned events (for which registration is required).
foundation
In addition to the necessary opposition, the message of goedbericht.nl is fortunately also appreciated from many sides. This is evident in part from the financial support I am allowed to receive (incidentally without asking for it!) in order to make more time available for this work. I am therefore currently in the process of establishing a foundation, so that it will be fiscally more attractive for donors to contribute to the goedbericht work. But do not be concerned… begging letters or requests for support you will not have to expect from goedbericht.nl in 2009 either. Goedbericht.nl is completely free and it must above all remain so!
May in 2009 the Biblical sound of the Good Message (Goed Bericht) continue to surprise many. With that in mind I wish all visitors of goedbericht.nl a very richly blessed 2009!
