In the TV program ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ Ronald Jan Heijn was seen yesterday, in which he was allowed to talk about Staya Erusa, a film and magazine in which New Age philosophy is promoted. Staya Erusa aims at the expansion of human consciousness, which according to Heijn’s conviction will indeed take place. He literally said the following:

If we begin to realize that death is an illusion and that life is everlasting, if we take that step, then we are in the realm of broader thinking, because then a great deal follows from it…

Do you recognize the claim of “the ancient serpent” who already said in the garden of Eden:

You will by no means die, but God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened…

once again: Uri Geller

The denial of death (characteristic of virtually every religion) is the gateway par excellence to the world of New Age. In this connection I want to correct an earlier contribution about Uri Geller. For whereas I recently still wrote about him with a shrug, assuming that he would have nothing to do with spiritism, I now know better. Geller is in fact directly involved with Ronald Jan Heijn’s organization Staya Erusa and declares himself to stand behind the idea of reincarnation and spiritism, and according to his own words he also saw multiple apparitions as a child. A salient detail is that Uri Geller is distantly related to the world-famous Sigmund Freud (Geller’s mother was named Freud), and the latter already showed great interest in occultism a century ago…

New Age imminent

New Agers expect a breakthrough of expanded consciousness within the foreseeable future. Many link it to 2012, the year in which the Mayan calendar ends. Be that as it may, I am convinced that New Agers will turn out to be right, for the dawning of “the third day” (of a thousand years) since the resurrection and ascension of Christ (Hosea 6:1–3 cf. 2 Peter 3:8) will not take much longer. But do not be mistaken: before the return of Jesus Christ, the world will first be seized by delusion and will believe the lie (2 Thessalonians 2:12). The New Age of peace, happiness and spirituality will most certainly come, but it will prove to be a pseudo–Kingdom of God and will end in a great debacle.

illusion or conquered enemy?

Returning to New Age philosophy: death is not an illusion or another form of life, but precisely the opposite of life. The Bible does not proclaim a denial of death, but the victory over death. Or better still: the Bible proclaims the Victor of death! Jesus Christ did not die for an illusion, but paid the price in order to conquer death on the third day and to bring imperishable Life to light as the Firstfruit!
