Titus 3:6 Poured out richly
31-08-2023 - Posted by Hans… but according to his mercy, He saves us, through the bath of renascence and renewal of holy spirit, which He pours out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Salvation is God’s work. In the “water bath of his word” (Eph.5:26) He regenerates us. More or less synonymous with this is the expression “renewal of holy spirit” which obviously does not mean that “holy spirit” (without article) is renewed, but that holy spirit renews us.
Paul is referring to what happens to a person when he is “immersed” in God’s word. That is rebirth and a total renewal. It is the same as when God lavishly pours holy spirit upon a man. For do not forget that God’s words are “spirit and life” (John 6:63). Paul refers to the overwhelming power and impact of God’s word with the “pours out richly”. That word is living and powerful, and no man can be exposed to it without being changed. Paul knew all about that. God had chosen him (Gal.1:15). He did not seek Jesus Christ, but Christ Jesus sought him and overwhelmed him with His grace (1Tim.1:14).
If GOD can call and renew firstfruits today, couldn’t He perform that miracle on every human being? After all, He opens ears and hearts… each in His time!
