Romans 16:27 – The only and wise God

To the only, and wise God, through Christ Jesus, be glory for the eons of the eons. Amen!

Because of the long parenthesis about the ” secret hushed in times eonian yet manifested now and through prophetic scriptures, according to the injunction of the eonian God being made known “, the reader would almost forget that it is still a praise to God. This concludes with dignity this longest and masterly letter of the apostle.

Him who is able to make firm according to Paul’s Gospel (:25a), is here called the “only and wise God”. That is He who with a “depth of riches and of wisdom and knowledge” walks untraceable ways with all His creatures (11:33). No one can advise Him, for He is the “only wise God.” Only to Him belongs “the glory for the eons” (1:25; 9:5; 11:36).

As always in Scripture, God operates “through Jesus Christ.” God is the Invisible One and “through Jesus Christ” who is His Image (Col.1:15), we see Him. Through Him God comes to us, but also vice versa: through Him we come to God. “For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…” (1Tim.2:5). Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord…to the glory of God the Father (Phil.2:9-11)!
