Romans 8:28 – All together working for good

Now we are aware that God is working all together for the good of those who are loving God, who are called according to the purpose

“We are not aware what to pray for in accord with what must be.” But in our inarticulate groaning we hear of God’s spirit pleading in our behalf. And that is why we are now aware “God is working all together for the good of those who are loving God”. Do you see the connection? We know this because God’s spirit lets us know. After all, he pleads!

People who “love GOD” know that He is the One who ordains everything but also the One who is “for us” (:31). It is this knowledge that also makes us love GOD. And also makes us aware that if that GOD is for us, there can be nothing against us! For He who loves us has all things in His hand!

Seemingly many things can be against us. Paul also lists them later in this chapter. Tribulation, distress, persecution, hunger, and so forth. In our experience, these are all ‘minuses’ (negative things). Paul does not deny that. But he says: everything works together for good. They are now ‘minuses’ but GOD makes ‘pluses’ of them!
