1 Corinthians 15:12 – no resurrection of the dead?

Now if Christ is being heralded that He has been roused from among the dead, how are some among you saying there is no resurrection of the dead?

In this verse Paul mentions the actual reason for the theme that he discusses in this chapter. The fact that he deals so extensively with the resurrection of Christ and hereafter with the all-embracing impact of this fact is because of the claim of some in the ecclesia at Corinth that there would be no resurrection of the dead.

Note that these people did not claim that there would be no life after death. Ever since Plato, the idea of ​​an immortal soul was generally assumed in the Greek world of thought. That is to say: if man dies, he would not really die but merely discard his body while the soul lives on. This idea has been adopted in the Christian world and has also been recorded in various confessions. Consider well the consequence of this teaching. It is a denial of death and therefore of the necessity of resurrection. Because it only acts as sugar on honey, no more. But in the Scriptures, the dead are really dead and beyond resurrection there is no hope.
