1Corinthians 1:30 – Out of Him it is

Yet you, out of Him, are in Christ Jesus, Who became to us wisdom from God, besides righteousness and holiness and deliverance…

No flesh should be boasting in the sight of GOD. That was Paul’s conclusion. This starts with the fact that we are “in Christ Jesus”. Is that our choice? No, Paul says, that it is out of GOD. He convinces people and gives them faith (Eph.2:8). For such people Christ Jesus has become GOD’s wisdom. That is GOD’s achievement and therefore also his honor.

In every respect all of our own fame is excluded. Both in the past, in the present and in the future. The words righteousness, sanctification and deliverance refer to this. We became righteous through faith (which is not our own). That is the past. In the present, Christ Jesus is the one who sanctifies us through His Word. That is work that he does on and in us, through which we ‘bear fruit’.

And in the future Christ Jesus is the guarantee of the deliverance of out body. That is to say: he delivers our body by making it incorruptible! What do we do ourselves? Nothing! Everything is his achievement. Behold GOD’s acting wisdom!
