1Corinthians 1:31 – Who’s achievement?20-11-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet
…that, according as it is written, He who is boasting, in the Lord let him be boasting!
Why is it so fundamental to recognize that everything we are and everything we have is not of ourselves? What is at stake, whether or not to accept that?
The answer to these questions is simple. Only when we realize that everything we are and have is thanks to GOD, we can give thanks and honor to Him. The foolishness of the world, exposed in this chapter, is situated in the pride and stubbornness of humans. Humanity raises itself and inevitably dishonors GOD.
The glorification of GOD needs to have a basis. It is the knowledge that all things are out, through and to GOD. Am I called? That is because GOD intended me to be. Am I believing? Then that is GOD’s achievement. Am I “in Christ Jesus”? That is from Him. Will I be sanctified and reformed in my thinking? That is only because GOD is busy with me. From the beginning to the end: everything si GOD’s achievement! So to Him all glory!
