Ephesians 3: 3 – the secret revealed to Paul
30-05-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet… the administration of the grace of God that is given to me for you, for by revelation the secret is made known to me, according as I write before, in brief…
It’s like Paul received a key of a treasure chamber, which nobody could enter before. The grace of God, he had the administration of it, was a secret, revealed especially to him. It expresses how special the truths are, that just he might make known.
It’s mainly in his letters from prison (see also the Colossians letter), that Paul writes extensively about “the secret”. In earlier letters he just touches it. But also already in the Romans letter, he wrote, the same as here, that the secret of the eons wasn’t mentioned for a long time, but that it’s revealed now. Paul writes, in that context, about “my evangel” (Romans 16: 25).
The enormous privileges that accrue to the nations by Paul’s ministry, were unknown before. It was also hidden in the “Old Testament”. The nations would be blessed by and from a reconstructed Israel. That was known from the prophesy. But now Israel is side-lined… and many, other, greater blessings come to the nations! Who would have believed that?!
