Romans 1:27– Wrong feelings do not exist

Likewise also the males, besides, leaving the natural use of the female, were inflamed in their craving for one another, males with males effecting indecency, and getting back in themselves the retribution of their deception which must be.

It is very important to point out that this verse (as in the previous one) refers to practices. “males with males effecting indecency”. Paul does not disapprove of gay feelings or tendencies. Here (but also elsewhere in Scripture) no word of condemnation is spoken about homophilia. That goes for any feeling, by the way. Feelings and desires can be unwanted but never wrong. The question is always: what do you do with feelings? Also e.g. with an urge, or the urge to drink, eat, have sex, etc. Such feelings cannot be blamed on anyone, however disturbing it may be experienced for him or her.

Learning to control and direct feelings and to let our minds guide is what makes people human. This ability distinguishes us from the beasts of the field that are mindless and cannot reflect on their own behavior. Don’t be fooled that you shouldn’t have a certain feeling. Being guided by feelings, that is what is misleading!
