Ephesians 6:20 – embassy in a chain
08-10-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet… with boldness, to make known the secret of the evangel, for which I am conducting an embassy in a chain, that in it I should be speaking boldly, as I must speak.
Paul is a messenger, an ambassador. An ambassador is somebody who represents his government abroad. Such a person doesn’t interfere in the domestic matters of the land where he is a guest. He has only one duty: to represent the government of his country gracefully.
In international law the ambassador is ‘diplomatically inviolable’. Arresting an ambassador by the host country, is not less than a declaration of war.
Paul is such an ambassador… in a chain. But does Paul declare war? On the contrary. Boldly he encloses “the secret of the good message”, for which he is an ambassador. Paul’s feet are sandaled with “the evangel of the peace” (: 15). In 2 Corinthians 5: 19, 20 he states to be an ambassador of Christ to whom “the word of the salvation” is trusted. GOD reconciliates, i.e. He changes enemies into friends. That is “the secret of the good message”! GOD makes peace through the blood of the cross, by reconciling all enemies to him (Colossians 1: 20)!
