Ephesians 6:19 – opening of my mouth

The last part of the armour is the prayer for “all the saints”. In this verse this prayer is so concrete, because Paul asks intercessory prayer for himself. It’s so typical that he doesn’t ask prayer for release from jail. Or for improvement of his circumstances. Paul had learnt to accept all circumstances. As a slave he trusted that his Lord took full care for him.
Not Paul’s personal circumstances should be subject of the prayer of his readers. No, he asks for intercessory prayer that he should open his mouth “with boldness”. To enclose “the secret of the good message”. Because that’s what the struggle is about. To announce a good message. And thus, about word. And how else that should happen by opening the mouth? The evangel should be told. Because faith is out of tidings (Romans 10:17). To remain standing in the struggle means, speaking of the good message with boldness!
