an invalid comparison
05-09-2013 - Posted by Andre PietGod is GOD (Rom.1:21), i.e., He is the One Who determines all and gives everything a place. Whose plans never fail (Job 42: 2) and Who never encounters surprises. From the beginning, He has proclaimed the ending (Isa.46:10). That is a wonderful Good News! But it also raises a lot of resistance, as was evident on the site with the beautiful name: www.genade.info. Unfortunately, this flag does not cover the cargo… For the writer begins (under the pseudonym Vader Jakob, continuing as VJ), with:
Some people assert (…) that God is the Creator of evil…
Some people assert? Excuse me, it is a statement of God Himself! “I am YAHWEH… . I create evil: I, YAHWEH, do all these things …” (Isa.45:7). VJ continues:
Let that sink in for a moment. You, yourself can think of some examples of evil. According to the universalists, these are all by God devised and set in motion. …
God is the Creator of all things. There is nothing that He has not put in motion. And the author of Proverbs says, “YAHWEH has EVERYTHING made for its purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of evil” (Prov.16:4). VJ:
He would also have created Satan as a man-killer, destroyer and deceiver, with the goal to have a dark background, against which His goodness would contrast, effectively….
GOD knew what He was doing when He formed the serpent (Job 26:9). He had a goal, as He has with everything. The disobedience of His creatures is not due to a mistake of Him. GOD is able to reverse the evil for good (Gen. 50:20), as the history of Joseph illustrates. GOD maintains in everything His control (Gen.45:8). Such a God is in the opinion of VJ a degenerate God. He then comes up with this analogy:
A father who hires a criminal to mistreat his children, so he can show them later how much he loves them.
Before discussing whether this comparison holds true, let me first, briefly, elaborate on this. Does the father, as pictured by VJ, fare any better? Okay, according to VJ, the father (God) did not hire the criminal (Satan), but is assaulted by him. But is this not a gross negligence, in case the father knew this beforehand or at least could have known this? And what kind of father is he, who allows his children to be abused, when he is able to intervene? According to every criminal court, this father would be no less complicit. The allegation that VJ makes in his analogy, comes back to him as a boomerang. The point, however, is that the comparison is not valid. As God already spoke by mouth of Isaiah: “With whom then will you compare Me?” (40:25). God is GOD and not, as the father in the analogy above, “responsible”. GOD is accountable to no one.
That which is molded will not protest to the molder, Why do you make me thus? Or has not the potter the right over the clay…? -Romans 9:20,21-
Do we want a comparison? Here is one. A Potter who is able to do what he wants and will do it in his own way. The thing framed is 100% a direct object. Even as a character in a book is completely formed by the author, so the potter kneads and makes honorable pots, but also pots without honor. In this, he has a purpose, without the objects of his work having any say about it. And the result will be astonishing!
For God LOCKS UP all together in stubbornness, THAT He should be merciful to all. -Romans 11:32-
This result is worthy of GOD! Paul therefore loudly exults:
33 O, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How inscrutable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways! (…) 36 seeing that out of HIM and through HIM and for HIM is all: to HIM be the glory for the eons! Amen! -Romans 11-
