1 Corinthians 7:17 – Peace

Except as the Lord parts it to each? Each as God has called him, thus let him be walking. And thus am I prescribing in all ecclesias.

Whatever we are or have, nothing is our own. It is the Lord who gives. That also applies to our calling. He who has been known and predestined by GOD beforehand, He calls them (Rom.8:30). GOD has a plan with every creature, but those called today have the task of being the Firstfruits to be involved in his work. A special privilege but also a special responsibility has been assigned to them.

What does that mean in practice? How would believers walk? The general guideline that Paul always mentions in his letters is that believers would walk as GOD called them. That of course means a walk in accordance with what they were called to do. But here it mainly means this: a walk in accordance with what they were called upon. Cultural or social differences play no role whatsoever when GOD calls a person. Just stay in your position and don’t bother about it. Accept the place and role that GOD gives you and experience the peace that this acceptance gives!
