1 Corinthians 12:22,23 – weakness and shame?
09-10-2019 - Posted by Andre PietNay, much rather, those members of the body supposed to be inherently weaker are necessary, and which we suppose to be a more dishonored part of the body, these we are investing with more exceeding honor, and our indecent members have more exceeding respectability.
Appearances are deceiving. The weakest or most vulnerable members of our body are among the most necessary. Think for example of the lungs, the heart and the intestines that are not only unnoticed but also extremely sensitive and soft. We can’t go without them even for a second! Would vulnerable members in the body of Christ not be necessary and could they be missed?
What applies to weak body parts also applies to the parts that we associate with shame. Is it not the case that we cover it? We don’t advertise them and we don’t want to be seen with them. At the same time, those are also the body parts that we have the most regard for. It is not for nothing that we call our pubic parts our precious parts.
