James or Paul?

This coming Thursday evening, I will be giving a talk for the joint men’s and women’s associations of the PKN in Rijnsburg on the above-mentioned topic. It is intended as the opening evening of the new meeting season. Perhaps the organizers have a calm evening in mind, but I suspect it won’t quite turn out that way…

What I especially want to emphasize is that, in the present time, we should look to Paul for orientation and instruction as “apostle and teacher of the nations.”
The opening question will be: why did Luther not know what to do with James and call his letter “an epistle of straw”?
Other questions: is it really true that the letters of James, Peter, and John are “general epistles”? Or are they directed to “the circumcision” (Israel)?
And if the latter is the case, what then does this mean?

One problem: I have roughly 20 to 25 minutes to make my point.
On the other hand: after the break there will be time for questions.

Location: Immanuel Church, Kerkstraat 3, 2231 CW Rijnsburg
Start time: 8:00 PM
Everyone is very welcome!
