Romans 10:3 – Fatal ignorance

Paul is talking about his Orthodox people in this passage. They did not lack zeal for God. They went to the synagogue, they worshiped God, they lived piously, they were “faithful to the Bible” – but in all of this they were “enemies to the evangel” (Rom. 11:28). How so? Why this misunderstanding? Paul’s answer is clear: they sought to establish their own righteousness, because it was believed that this would carry weight. But GOD does not expect anything at all from man. He Himself fulfills what He has promised. GOD does justice to his promise, that is his righteousness. Nothing can be done about it because everything “is finished!” And faith says amen to that!
Jesus Christ is the Savior of the whole world (John 4:42). That’s a fact! Indeed, the world does not know this. And the ones that should tell her, they don’t want to know. They are busy trying to ‘save souls for eternity …’ as many souls as possible. Pious zeal always proves to be the major obstacle to have faith in GOD’s word.
