WWJD = Watch What Jesus Does!
11-08-2012 - Posted by Andre PietIn the English speaking world, the abbreviation WWJD is fairly well-known. It stands for, What Would Jesus Do? This question, which every true Christian is supposed to ask, ignores the fact that the Jesus, Who once walked here on earth, was “born under the law” (Gal.4:4) and moreover, was only “sent to the house of Israel” (Mat.15:24). The Jesus, Whom Paul met on the road to Damascus and Whom he, subsequently, made known among the nations, is by now the Christ, i.e., He Who is risen and Who is exalted above all in heaven and on earth. Therefore, Paul usually calls Him “Christ Jesus“. His focus was not on Jesus “according to the flesh” (while He was here on earth; 2Cor.5:16), but on the Man, Christ Jesus, in heaven, and on learning about His power. The question: what would Jesus have done in this situation?, mainly brings about frustration and a feeling of guilt. “Unfortunately, I’m not as Jesus, as everyone can readily see…” But that is not the issue! The question is: Who is Christ Jesus NOW and what is He doing, TODAY? When we focus on that transcendent glory of Christ (as Paul taught), then our eyes will smile, as we are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory (2Cor.3:18). Please note: we ARE BEING transformed. It is HIS work and HIS strength! Then it truly is: “no longer I, but living in me is Christ.” (Gal.2:20). WWJD = Watch What Jesus Does (now)!
