The Last Trump(et)?

Spectacular
Who could have written this script? Trump is elected for a second term four years after the 2020 elections. His numerous political opponents believed he was defeated for good, yet now he returns triumphantly! Convicted and vilified by the mainstream media, he has twice survived an impeachment procedure. Additionally, he has escaped two assassination attempts. And now, he wins the presidential elections in a landslide.
Political & Prophetic Perspective
Normally, you won’t find commentary on political elections on this site. The GoedBericht site deliberately remains apolitical (“we desire no earthly power”), which also applies to American politics. However, the case with Trump is different, due to the prophetic perspective I have been pointing out for years.
In November 2020, I wrote about Trump being a highly suitable candidate to fulfill the role of the rider on the white horse (Revelation 6:1-2). The most likely scenario I outlined at the time was (I quote):
Trump wins the lawsuits he filed and, (against all odds), still becomes president for a second term. Such a victory would be even more spectacular than merely winning an election. And yes, this is an unlikely scenario, but does that argue against it or rather in favor of it? Don’t we read about the rider on the white horse: “and he went out conquering, and to conquer”? In this scenario, Trump could continue his successes in the Middle East for the next four years and possibly reach an agreement on Jerusalem, allowing room for a rebuilt temple.
Yet a Second Term
In this scenario, I assumed that Trump would assume office in 2021 as president after all. But reality has turned out to be even more spectacular. In November 2020, I could not have imagined this. Trump wins in November 2024 for a second term—and does so far more decisively than if he had won the 2020 elections through lawsuits. Because now, he has secured a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Even the popular vote (the total number of votes) has gone in his favor.
War
Over the past four years, the global situation has become significantly more grim, with “wars and rumors of wars.” This includes, among other things, the situation around Ukraine. Since the Biden administration took office, NATO has been pushing for an endless war with Russia. However, upon assuming the presidency, Trump will immediately put an end to this. He will cut off funding for the war in Ukraine without delay, forcing the warring parties to the negotiating table.
And More War
And what do you think Trump’s re-election could mean for the Middle East? Up until the transfer of Trump’s presidency to Biden, high expectations surrounded an impending peace in the Middle East. Under Trump’s leadership, one Arab country after another signed peace agreements with Israel in 2020 (the Abraham Accords), and even an agreement with Saudi Arabia was within reach. But in the past four years, that sentiment has largely disappeared. The last year has been downright dramatic, especially since the brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 (22 Tishri). From that date onward, everything changed in the Middle East.
An Iron Empire
Since the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948, Israel has miraculously managed to maintain itself as a tiny nation. It withstood major attacks from the Arab world in 1948 (the War of Independence), 1956 (the Suez Crisis), 1967 (the Six-Day War), and 1973 (the Yom Kippur War). But in the past year, the roles have reversed. Now, the Jewish state has assumed the role of aggressor. All nations in the Middle East fear this “iron empire,” which has proven capable of militarily crushing any resistance (cf. Daniel 2:40; 7:7,19,23). Lebanon, Syria, Iran… which country would still dare to challenge “the Zionist regime”? Israel has become the dominant power in the Middle East, and even U.S. President Biden has been unable to stop or even restrain Israel’s actions.
What Will Trump Do in the Middle East?
It is against this ominous backdrop of conflicts and wars that Trump will assume the presidency in January 2025. He is a highly popular ally of Israel, but—surprisingly—he also commands respect within the Arab world. Because of this, he is uniquely positioned to finalize the Abraham Accords he initiated during his first term. Despite their deep-seated hostility toward the Jewish state, Muslim nations will be compelled to reach agreements. This would mark the second phase of the fourth kingdom (described in Daniel 2 and 7): a coalition of ten nations bound together. Iron and clay, strong and weak (Daniel 2:41,42). Could this alliance be established during Trump’s next term? The prophesied period of improbable (yet temporary) peace (Revelation 6:4) unfolding? If so, we may also expect the resumption of temple services in Jerusalem. In 2017, Trump decided to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Will he now, in his second term, make it possible for Jewish sacrifices to resume at the holy site, as King Cyrus once did (Daniel 12:11; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4)?
Be Watchful!
Trump’s victory today is undoubtedly a historic event—a milestone with major geopolitical consequences. I recognize the need for caution when making definitive statements about the timing and manner of future developments. But… time is running out. The two-millennia timeframe (Hosea 6:1-3) is coming to an end. Therefore, now more than ever, we would do well to pay close attention to the prophetic word, as to a lamp shining in a dark place (2 Peter 1:19).
