Romans 6:22 – Fruit for holiness
12-03-2021 - Posted by Andre PietYet, now, being freed from Sin, yet enslaved to God, you have your fruit for holiness. Now the consummation is life eonian.
In contrast to “when you were slaves to sin” (: 18), it is “Yet, now“. You were “being freed from sin”. Those who realize that sin means “missing the mark” also realizes the hopeless position of the one who is a slave to it. The slave himself cannot help it; he is entirely dependent on another to be freed from it: one who pays a ransom so that the slave can go free or become the property of another. This is a transfer from one lord (sin) to another (GOD). From negative to positive.
Thinking back to the fruit of sin brings only shame (: 21). By contrast, being a enslaved to GOD means not only knowing your own ownership of Him, but also the experience of true freedom. It produces a life of “fruit for Holiness”. Holiness. that is, an honorable existence devoted to GOD is a fruit. A fruit that grows naturally from the realization that He owns us. In expectation of the life of the eon to come, becoming more and more radiant!
