Romans 11:36 – Ta panta, All

29-10-2021 - Posted by Hans

Seeing that out of Him and through Him and for Him is all: to Him be the glory for the eons! Amen!

This Bible verse is the culmination of Paul’s discourse that began in chapter 9. It is also undoubtedly the climax of his discourse. A final piece that summarizes everything in one sentence. It explains the past (“out of Him”), the present (“through Him”) and the future (“into Him”). Yes, it explains “all things” (Gr. ta panta) which Paul expanded on in the foregoing. About Israel and the nations. On the wisdom and knowledge of God. About God’s judgments and untraceable ways. He is the origin, the medium and the goal of everything and everyone.

This is the touchstone of all true philosophy and theology. This is what rightly makes God “GOD,” theos, which is derived from a verb meaning (to set or) to place. GOD places all things. Something takes place because He gives it a place. That truth is literally: SIMPLE. Because everything comes from the One and exists through the One, everything also returns to the One. The Latin word for universe, “universe,” aptly illustrates this. From the word structure this means (‘uni’ = one and ‘versum’ = turned towards): everything turns towards One!
