Romans 10:9 – God roused Christ

…that if ever you should be avowing with your mouth the declaration that Jesus is Lord, and should be believing in your heart that God rouses Him from among the dead, you shall be saved.

That Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead are two sides of the same coin. For because God raised his Son from the dead as the firstfruits, he is also “Lord of all” (10:12). Peter tells his people on the day of Pentecost that God has made the Jesus they crucified Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36).

It is the recurring refrain in Scripture that God raised Christ from the dead. It underlines the most important biblical truth that there is one GOD. For those who adhere to the doctrine of the trinity and therefore believe that Jesus would (literally) be God, this is incomprehensible. For how could Jesus die if he was God? And why did he need another to be resurrected? It is impossible to believe in the heart that Jesus was resurrected. It’s always ‘yes but…’.

The Scriptures are simple. “There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1Tim.2:5). Only with this acknowledgment can we wholeheartedly believe that God raised Christ from the dead!
