Romans 10:13 – Everyone, whoever should be invoking the name of the Lord

That the Lord is rich for all who call on him is of course not an invention of Paul. This truth is already prominent in many places in the Hebrew Bible. Paul here quotes from Joel 2:32, as did Peter on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:21). The word in Joel 2 refers to the moment when the sun and moon will be darkened, just before the Lord appears.
Many prophets speak of this important milestone. It is about the time when in great tribulation the remnant people in Jerusalem will call on the name of YAHWEH. And then He will set His feet on the Mount of Olives and create an escape route to the desert. But the biggest surprise will be that when Israel will call on the Name… JESUS will appear (=YAHWEH is Saviour). He is, after all, the icon of the invisible God. And they’ll see who they once pierced.
It is this event in the near future that will make it very clear that there is salvation in calling on the Name. As Psalm 50:15 says, “And call upon Me in the day of distress; I shall liberate you…”
