Philippians 2:15,16 –Like stars in the night.

flawless, in the midst of a generation crooked and perverse among whom you are appearing as luminaries in the world, having the word of life…

By doing everything without murmuring and reasoning, we show ourselves to be incorruptible and artless children of God. For that is how children live who trust their Father. In addition, this proves that one is not infected by a “crooked and perverted generation” in the midst of which one finds himself. Those who do not know about GOD cannot think and speak straightly. Hence “crooked and twisted”.

Not only gratitude may characterize children of God. They also have something to report. The world is dark and its inhabitants grope in the dark. Without a view of where one comes from or where one is going (1John 2:11). In such a world we may shine as” luminaries”. Like stars that do not dispel the darkness, but do give light and provide orientation! How else but by upholding the “word of life”? After all, that word testifies to Life that is stronger than death! It is the testimony of the resurrected Christ that makes us shine like stars and offers perspective to every mortal. Until “the Sun” rises and “the Day dawns” and dispels all darkness.
