Philippians 2:10– In the name of Jesus
03-02-2023 - Posted by Hansthat in the name of Jesus every knee should be bowing, celestial and terrestrial and subterranean, and every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord for the glory of God the Father.
Paul refers in this passage to the oath that God swore, described in Isaiah 45:23. Every knee shall bow before Him and every tongue shall confess to Him. That’s not just a promise, it’s an oath! Paul shows here how GOD is going to fulfill that. The answer is: “in the name of JESUS”, which means: YAHWEH saves! To that end, Jesus humbled himself and was obedient “until the death of the cross” (2:8).
Every creature, wherever they are, in heaven, on earth or under the earth, will bow before Him. And every tongue will applaud. No lip service. The word ‘acclaiming’ also underlines that. Paul uses a strong word for “confess” that begins with “ex,” which means “from within” in Greek. And moreover: “to the glory of God”, which again confirms that it is a hearty agreement.
What an outcome of history! Every creature bows and confesses in the name of Jesus: YAHWEH saves! Nobody is missing. A greater glory for GOD as Father is not imaginable!
