“The name above every name” can refer to only one name: the Name of God. For only the name of YAHWEH is exalted above all (Ps.83:19; 148:13). With the ultimate reason that He is Savior… of all! And how does He save? Through JESUS – whose name means YAHWEH saves . God does not give his glory to another (Isa.42:8). The fact that “in the name of JESUS (Heb. Yehoshua) every knee shall bow” confirms that all glory goes to YAHWEH who saves.
Many have wondered why the NT never mentions the name of God. God’s name would be sanctified, wouldn’t it? Why then is that name concealed in the NT? The answer is: the name is not withheld, but it is given in the name of JESUS: YAHWEH saves!
On every page of the NT we find “the name above every name”. JESUS is the name given at his birth (Mat.1:25), but it is precisely in this name of humiliation that every creature will bow down in worship before YAHWEH… who is Saviour. God reveals who He is through JESUS!
