Galatians 1:15 – From my mother’s whomb.

Now, when it delights God, Who severs me from my mother’s whomb and calls me through His grace, to unveil His Son in me that I may be evangelizing Him among the nations…

Paul’s isolation in view of his task of evangelizing God’s Son among the nations did not begin with his calling (near Damascus) but from the womb. Everything in his life was controlled by GOD to make Saul the man He envisioned. Saul was a Jew by birth, of the tribe of Benjamin (Philippians 3:5). A Hebrew (Philp.3:5) but also Greek speaking (Acts 21:37). And also a Roman by birth (Acts 22:27). Thus Saul was divinely ‘pre-sorted’ from birth to become the “apostle of the nations” on occasion.

We also read of Jeremiah that before he came forth from his mother’s womb, he had been sanctified (=set apart) by God and made a “prophet to the nations” (Jer.1:5). The parallel is remarkable. Both heralded Jerusalem’s demise in their generation, and both were given a mission to the nations to that end. Had Paul or Jeremiah chosen that? Not in the least! Even before they knew or had done anything, GOD had already chosen them to do so (cf. Rom. 9:11).
