Ephesians 6:23,24 – our Lord… in incorruption

08-10-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God, the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who are loving our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruption!

The letter ends like it began. Grace reigns from the beginning until the end. It has the first and the last word, and stylistic Paul expresses that. It’s characteristic for the apostle, who was delegated to announce “the good message of the grace of GOD” among the nations. The “administration of the grace of GOD” was also given to him. The peace and grace are also not Paul’s wish or prayer. It’s determination. Derived from GOD the Father and by the Lord Jesus Christ our part.

Great how the letter ends with the view on our Lord “in incorruption”. This is not about Jesus, who came to the earth to die. No, it points to above. To him, who, after his death and funeral, was resurrected from death, and who revealed, as the firstfruit, life and incorruption (2 Timothy 1: 10). That’s the base of the good message. In him we have the guarantee, that death will be offset fully!
