1 Corinthians 9:23 – joint participant of the evangelist01-07-2019 - Posted by Andre Piet
Now all am I doing because of the evangel, that I may be becoming a joint participant of it.
Paul is prepared adapting in all for all. Of course he doesn’t modify the Evangel, but himself. And he does it, for the sake of the Evangel. The good message would make progress and reach everybody. Paul abandons everything that influences that progress negatively. His only purpose is gaining people!
That also gives answer to the question what he means with ‘becoming a joint participant of the evangel’. That is someone who fully commits himself to the the progress of the Evangel. The Evangel is definitely not just information to take note of, no it’s meant to pass on. A joint participant of the evangel is therefore someone with the mindset to reach the other with the Evangel.
Paul doesn’t want to be just participant, he wants to be “joint participant”. He assumed that his readers were already participant. Who knows the Evangel, has the built-in drive to share it with others. That’s what a good message is for – we cannot stop saying it!
