1 Corinthians 15:9,10 – In the grace of God I am what I am

…who am not competent to be called an apostle, because I persecute the ecclesia of God. Yet in the grace of God I am what I am…

The living Christ also appeared to Paul “last of all”. His ‘prior education’ as an apostle consisted of being the persecutor of the ecclesia of God. He had made a name for himself more than anyone of his contemporaries. As a brilliant student and a rising star in Judaism (Gal.1: 13), he acted as a violent extremist against “the Nazarene sect”. If one was not eligible to be an Apostle of Christ, then it was this Saul of Tarsus. His past had completely disqualified him.

However, the fact that Christ did appear to this Saul and even made him an apostle can only be attributed to one reason: GOD’s grace. That made Paul the man he was. Not thanks to but despite his past. Saul’s religion, his education, and his temperament had made him the ultimate enemy of Christ. But that made him suitable to become a demonstration model of GOD’s grace. A walking monument of what GOD can do. No opposition so stubborn, or GOD’s grace surpasses it!
