1 Corinthians 15:28 – GOD all in all

…that GOD may be All in all.

Paul’s explanation began with the equation (: 22) that just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be vivified. He then makes it clear that this will be done in three stages. The final stage will be at the end of Christ’s rule, when he will abolish death by making all alive. Everything will be subjected to God and acknowledge Him. Christ will then transfer the kingdom to GOD the Father because everything has been brought to perfection. The word ‘all’ shines here: nobody is missing!

During Christ’s rule it is all about subjection. The preposition ‘sub’ underlines ranking and hierarchy. But once the subjection is realized and the Son himself will also be subjected, the definitive phase will begin. The vista that Paul opens here is completely unique. Nowhere in the prophecy do we look further into GOD’s plan of salvation than here. Here it is no longer all about Christ. Not even all under GOD. From here it becomes: GOD all in all.

Before the eons, GOD was everything in itself. Today He is everything in Christ. But at the completion of the eons, He will be everything … in all. Unimaginable!
